Levy Craig shareholder Shane Mecham recently reached a $5.55 million-dollar settlement for a Missouri Non-Profit in a case against its property insurer.  Poplar Bluff Industries is a non-profit that generates economic development and attracts high-quality jobs to Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  It owned an industrial building that it leased to a global HVAC company who employed approximately 100 people there.  Snowstorms struck that property and damaged the roof, causing water to rain into the building.  Unfortunately, Poplar Bluffs Industries’ property insurer refused to pay for the damage, claiming that it was the result of deterioration over time.  Shane Mecham sued the insurer in federal court.  shortly after Mr. Mecham filed a summary judgement motion, the insurer agreed to pay $5.55 million to resolve the claim.  Poplar Bluff Industries’ President, Steve Halter, commented, “I am completely satisfied and so impressed with the level of professionalism and tenacity Shane displayed throughout this lawsuit.  Shane is very detailed and has incredible follow up and communication skills.  I would highly recommend Shane and the Levy Craig Law Firm.”  Without this settlement to fund roof repairs, there was a risk that these jobs would be moved to Mexico.  Mr. Mecham remarked, “The real victory is keeping these 100 good-paying jobs right here in Missouri.”
